Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross

I visited this particular hotel for its luxury spa and its newly refurbished rooms, but was also pleasantly surprised at their excellent in-house restaurant.

My room on the ground floor was clean, wonderfully scented, and had complimentary drinks and food in the mini-bar. Service was quick and friendly, both in-person and over the phone’s room service.

Their in-house restaurant had a diverse menu, with English, Italian and French dishes, as well as plenty of traditional desserts. I ordered the glazed confit pork belly, margarita pizza, and a chocolate fondant. The pizza had a crispy base, mozzarella cheese, and a slightly sweet tomato sauce which paired nicely with chilli sauce. The glazed pork belly melted in the mouth, perfectly soft and generously glazed which went perfectly well with the rich salty gravy. The triple cooked chips and creamed mash was buttery and fluffy, again, wonderful with their richbone-marrow gravy. Would absolutely recommend the pork belly.

The chocolate fondant was reminiscent of a traditional stodgy pudding, less melt-in-the-middle, and more spongy and dense. Although the flavours were good, it was very sweet, even with the vanilla ice cream.

Overall, I would recommend Gerrards Cross Crowne Plaza and I look forward to returning- eager to try their selection of finer desserts.
