Little Crow
Little crow, little crow,
Why do you bow your head so low?
Are you free on that swaying tree,
Or is there something not letting you be?
Little crow, little crow,
Why is there sorrow in your eyes of coal,
Is there something nipping your wings,
Keeping you from the finer things?
Little crow, little crow,
Why do you sing a song so cold?
Is the moon’s facade your only friend,
The only reason you play pretend?
Little crow, little crow,
Why do you bow your head so low?
Are you free on that swaying tree,
Or is there something not letting you be...
Candlelight
I sit by candlelight.
The candle wax is solid and erect,
The parchment is illuminated with the wick’s
dancing flame,
The pocket watch ticks with every ominous
Second,
The aroma of bourbon whisky wafts from my
full flask,
The smoking pipe shoots out puffs of ashen
smoke,
The feather pen’s pointed nib is at the ready.
The wax has strewn all over the silver holder,
The parchment is shadowed by the wicks dying
embers,
The pocket watch ticks with every
dawning second,
The spills of bourbon whisky drip down the side
of my quarter flask,
The smoking pipe sputters bits of flavourless
dust,
The feather pen’s fractured nib is ready to fall.

Crimson Death
Crimson death
Draped in red and plaid
Laid in specs of brown and red
Dead inside with death inside your pupils
Your blood shot emerald disillusioned pupils
Pilled on pills of flesh and flasks of hearty wine
Fine in dress of collar and ribboned coat
Notes of kill and to be killed in cuffs
Puffs of perfume deeply loved
Gloves polished and tight
Night awoken.
